Dry Gangrene of the Extremities Associated with Salmonella dublin Infection in a Calf
نویسندگان
چکیده
An orphan disease was observed in a young calf presenting dry gangrene of the extremities with necrosis of the hind legs, ears and tail. Careful clinical examination and differential diagnosis with other causes of dry gangrene have been made including frostbite, bovine virus diarrhea and poisoning by fescue and ergotism. Deep investigation and laboratory research revealed the occurrence of Salmonella infection and further identification according to ISO 6579 method in calf feces and visceras led to isolation of Salmonella sp subsequently serotyped as Salmonella dublin. A relationship has been suggested between the occurrence of this disease and the cold agglutination associated with the autoimmune hemolytic anemia leading to ischemia of tissues of the terminal extremities.

Giant hydronephrosis and secondary pyelonephritis induced by Salmonella dublin in a Holstein calf
Hydronephrosis occurs as a congenital or an acquired condition following obstruction of the urinary tract. In this study, a four month old male Holstein calf with emaciation, growth retardation and a poor dry scruffy hair coat was examined because of remarkable distention of right abdomen. At necropsy, right kidney was hydronephrotic as a very big fluid-filled round pelvis with the presence of ...

Abstract Background Limb gangrene in neonates is an extremely rare clinical problem and very few cases have been recorded up to now. However, a variety of etiological causes may account for this condition. Case Presentatio...
متن کاملThree Sporadic Cases of Infection due to Salmonella Type Dublin.
In 1926 Pesch reported a case of meningitis due to a Gaertner-like organism. The culture was examined by Bruce White (1926) and was found by him to be identical with an organism sent to him by Dr. J. W. Bigger. This Dublin strain was isolated from a case of fatal fever supervening after a kidney operation. Bruce White (1929) has exhaustively examined the serology of the Dublin strain. He has sh...
